We are heartbroken to share the passing of Lawrence (Larry) Liston, who left us unexpectedly on July 9, 2025, at the age of 58. For over 25 years, Larry was the heart of the Gladden Food Pantry, a steady, compassionate presence who helped build it into a lifeline for thousands of Franklinton’s neighbors.
Larry didn’t just manage the pantry warehouse; he lived its mission. He understood that food was more than a basic need; it was a source of dignity and connection. He made sure every person who walked through the door felt seen, respected, and welcomed. Larry was a tireless worker, full of energy, always driven by one clear goal: to feed the people.
“I can tell you he was one of the most sincere and down-to-earth people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. And so many folks that used the pantry felt the same.”
Brenda Ballinger (long-time Gladden volunteer)
Larry’s legacy lives on in the pantry he helped grow and the community he served. His kindness, patience, and sense of humor brought warmth to every corner of our work. His presence and enthusiasm will be deeply missed, not just by Gladden but by the many lives he touched with his compassion.
Thank you, Larry. You made Franklinton stronger.
