ON A MISSION: STACEY CONRAD

On a Mission is our monthly series highlighting the dedicated individuals who make up our dynamic board of directors — those whose guidance and generosity are instrumental to achieving our mission.

On a Mission: Board Member Stacey Conrad

Neighborhood: Work: Franklinton Live: Alexandria

Occupation: Manager at Mount Carmel Healthy Living Center

What do you like to do in your spare time outside of your work and board service?

I love yoga and running, reading, and red wine! I live with my husband of 20 years, two teenagers (a boy age 13, girl age 16), two indoor cats, one outside cat, and a dog. They keep me pretty busy!

Why is serving your community important to you?

It takes a village, and we can only be stronger as a population if we lift each other up. And it’s just the right thing to do.

Talk a bit about your company’s commitment to supporting the non-profit community in Central Ohio?

Mount Carmel has a strong passion for supporting everyone in the community, knowing that we can’t—and shouldn’t—do it all. But we can support many other tremendous organizations in central Ohio that are doing great work. Physical health is only one part of overall well-being; without social support, our families cannot thrive and will not stay physically healthy.

Beyond your company, what is special about the philanthropic community in Central Ohio?

Columbus has such a strong philanthropic essence. We are resource-rich and I love that we are so diverse and supportive of all people. Living in a rural area outside of the city, there is a stark difference in how Columbus accepts responsibility for everyone living and working here.

Why does the Gladden mission speak to you?

The Healthy Living Center has had a partnership with Gladden from Day One, although I wasn’t part of those beginnings. Over my tenure at the HLC, my team has constantly revisited how we can work together in areas that make sense. Joining the board made perfect sense, as I could learn more about the ins and outs of what makes Gladden tick and better understand the possibilities of a partnership with the HLC. In addition, we are both organizations with a mission to provide resources and empowerment to our community members. I’m drawn to this board for the same reasons I was drawn to taking the position at the HLC.
